Thomson Reuters announced the list of Highly Cited Researchers 2017, and Dr. Chen Dong is selected for the only scientist in the discipline of immunology in Mainland China.

Highly Cited Researchers identifies the most influential contemporary researchers across more than 21 scientific fields, covering material, chemistry, mathematics, immunology, engineering and other disciplines in the world. 

Dr. Chen Dong, director of the Institute for Immunology of Tsinghua University, has been receiving the honor for three consecutive years from 2014 to 2017 Former Professor of Department of Immunology and Director of Center for Inflammation and Cancer, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Dong was elected into the National Thousand Talents Program in 2013 and established the Institute for Immunology of Tsinghua University in 2014. He is now the Dean of School of Medicine and Deputy Director of Center for Life Sciences, Tsinghua University.

Dr. Dong has made a number of groundbreaking discoveries in T cell biology and immune disorders, including the instrumental contributions to the discovery and characterization of Th17 and Tfh, two of the critical cell types in immune diseases. He has published more than 200 scientific papers with total citation number over 19,000.
