About the Institute

Institute for Immunology, Tsinghua University (IITU) was jointly established by School of Medicine and School of Life Science, Tsinghua University in June 2014. The mission of the institute is to bring together outstanding scientists, trainees and staff, and strive to excel in biomedical research, to advance our fundamental understanding of health and disease, and to translate our knowledge into the betterment of life.
The institute currently has 15 principal investigators and organized research efforts into diverse areas in immunology and related diseases. We have four fellows of “National Thousand Talents Program”, two principal scientists of National Major Scientific Research Project "973" Program, five awardees of “National Distinguished Young Scientist”, seven fellows of “Thousand Young Talents Program” and one awardee of “Young Talent in Science and Technology”. In addition, we have over 60 postdoctoral fellows, 150 Ph.D students and 30 research assistants.
Our institute is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment to promote academic success. The Scientific Advisory Board is composed of seven international renowned scientists, who are sharing their scientific visions and providing critical inputs to our research and the strategic development of the institute. We on a regular basis host domestic and international leading scientists to brainstorm cutting-edge directions on basic and translational aspects of immunology research. We also routinely schedule presentations and discussions of working progress among faculty, students and postdoctoral fellows. Additionally, we have been building core facilities and developing key technologies to support our scientific research.
In the years to come, we will continue to attract and train phenomenal scientists in our team, to improve the equipment and service of our core facilities, and to nurture a collaborative academic environment for the scientific pursuit and for training of next-generation immunologists. Together with the immunology research community in the world, our institute strives to play a leading role in biomedical research, and make significant impact towards combating diseases and increasing wellbeing of our society.
